L J O’Brien is an accountancy practice established in 2001 and based on the outskirts of Chester, close to Ellesmere Port. In 2013 it expanded with the employment of another Chartered Accountant to extend the range and capacity of the practice. As fully qualified Chartered Accountants we are required to be up to date with continuing professional development (CPD) and the firm is subject to a practice assurance regime implemented by ICAEW.
With prior experience of working in business you can be sure that we understand the pressures of running a business, so let us help you to concentrate your time on generating your income, rather than filling in forms for HMRC or Companies House!

Services Detail
Final accounts preparation
Whether you are a Sole Trader, Partnership or Limited Company, we can help you ensure your accounts are prepared with the minimum disruption to your business. We can provide a full accounts preparation service or offer assistance with your own accounting systems.
Your annual accounts must comply with accepted accounting standards and principles, and those statutory accounts files at Companies House must be in a set format with specific notes. We can ensure that your accounts meet the requirements and are filed on time.
Tax returns for sole traders, partnerships, companies and individuals
We will prepare tax computations and returns from business accounts and submit these to HMRC; advising on the amount of tax to pay and when it is due for payment. We can deal with general enquiries from HMRC and advise you if you become subject to an HMRC investigation.
The personal tax regime can be complex and we make sure the advice you receive takes into account the full picture of your particular circumstances – your business, investment income or employment income.
Payroll & VAT
We can manage your entire payroll and ensure that all RTI and MTD requirements are met and you don’t fall foul of detailed payroll or VAT regulations. We will supply payroll reports and payslips and advice on end of year returns.
We can offer assistance on auto-enrolment for pension contributions.
We can assist in the preparation and submission of VAT returns and deal with any enquiries from HMRC. We can advise on becoming VAT registered (or de-registered)
